Boucherouite rugs are amazingly playful and tell stories of materials that have already had another life long ago. This type of rug is a new phenomena growing out of the need for recycling left over material from the fashion industry and has become ever more trendy over the last decade.

Boucherouite is a perfect alternative to wool rugs for those that are allergic or just want something cool and different.

The word boucherouite itself means used clothing or simply scraps. Instead of using wool to weave the rugs, women in Morocco started using cotton as well as lurex and nylon. It’s not uncommon to find a cool disco shirt or glittery leggings woven into these beauties ;)

The women who weave these rugs follow their own free creative style and make asymmetrical patterns of diamonds and squares. Soft to the touch and a feast for your eyes, these rugs are truly something unique and special to liven up any room!

Please note: This is a vintage item and you should expect to see evidence of wear, potentially some reparations and slight ‘imperfections’, which I believe add to the character and charm of the rug.
